Lockdown Pictures

These pictures came into being over lockdown. My darling husband Colin died in the beginning of the lockdown and numb with grief I couldn’t work at all for a while.

Then strangely I began making colourful work – colour seemed very important and wildlife too.

I would walk in the park next to where I live and I got a sort of consolation watching the birds and dogs. I thought this would end when lockdown ended but although I have returned to my original work the colourful pictures are still coming and I will still do them.

They feel very healing.

I found relief in watching the birds fly overhead on my balcony and the pictures I was compelled to make were of colour, wild vibrant colour, and the beauty of wildlife. In some strange way they brought me hope in darkness and the promise of freedom and some sort of life after lockdown.
